Color of Change Cracks Into Glenn Beck’s Advertisers

Seems “the president is a racist” doesn’t work to well for people trying to sell you soap, legal services and car insurance.

From Gawker:

After Glenn Beck called the president a racist Nazi, some of his advertisers decided that bottomless white rage is off-brand:, Procter & Gamble and Progressive Insurance ads no longer appear during his show.

The three companies were responding to a pressure campaign started by Color of Change. A Fox News spokeswoman told TVNewser that the companies simply moved their spots to other Fox News shows, “so there has been no revenue lost” as a result of Beck’s ongoing on-air self-immolation. Only souls.

  1. Interesting read:~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Right-Wing Turncoat Gives the Inside Scoop on Why Conservatives Are Rampaging Town Hallsby Francis Schaeffer How Can The Right Stoop So Low?I used to know Dick Armey quite well. One of my sons even worked for him as an intern. I knew Armey in the context of his being a fan of my late Evangelical Religious Right leader father Francis Schaeffer. (Back in the day when I was a right wing "pro-life" organizer who has long since quit the Republicans in disgust at their — our — descent into extremism and hate.) Armey was once a decent guy, whatever his political views. How could he stoop so low as to be organizing what amounts to America’s Brown Shirts today?I think I know what happened to him, Gingrich and the rest: They can’t compute that their white man-led conservative revolution is dead. They can’t reconcile their idea of themselves with the fact that white men like them don’t run the country any more — and never will again. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~For the entire post:

  2. They have lost touch – true. But the real reason they have turned into these ogres, I believe, is that they can’t compete on a level playing field. Their method of governing has been so disastrous that they must use scare tactics, lies and now mob rule to get into the game.

  3. I got an email about this story from a family member. So if they’ve removed their ads from running during his show, what companies have stepped up and taken their place? Great site btw. First time here.

  4. These are people who would rather see American fail than have a Black president. It’s middle aged white America who are scared and right wingers are playing Russian Roulette by using so much hate speech. They are basically leaving the loaded gun in the middle of the table saying ‘please use it’. And God forbid if something does happen they will all claim ‘freedom of speech’ and say ‘what a horrible thing’. These people really irritate me, mis-informing the public on health care, making everyone believe at 65 then you have to go before a panel every 5 years and they will decide whether or not you should continue on health care. Sarah Palin’s Facebook message says it all. There are so many people out there with health care (myself included) who need it desperately.

  5. @ Maggie Knowles. The post is beautiful fiction, but still fiction none the less. "White men like them" still do and will continue to run the country. Our system of government (no matter who is in power) is a shiny, democratic face for America, but truth is it is the corporations and their lobbyists are really who run the U.S.A..Welcome to America Inc.

  6. Remember people, Glenn Beck is an actor and his ratings are down. So, how do you get ratings up? You resort to attention grabbing such as calling Obama a racist or shouting at someone to get off of your phone while on the radio. No need to get worked up over these idiots because the old saying “A fool and his money are soon parted” will come true as Glenn Beck is a fool and his “money” is his show which soon be cancelled thus parting the two.

  7. I just signed the statement of support for Glenn Beck. I will not buy another product or service from any of the companies that have pulled their advertising due to pressure from And I have written to all of the companies who have caved in to that pressure, assuring them that they just lost me as a customer for ever.None of that because I agree with everything that Mr. Beck has to say. Only because I despise all attempts to censor freedom of speech — which is exactly what ColorForChange is doing. That is a totalitarian and very unAmerican habit: China, North Korea and a few other hellholes do the same thing; Nazi Germany used to do the same thing too.
