McCain Volunteer’s “Black Guy Did It!” Tale A Hoax

Hey, 99 percent of the time blaming an anonymous black guy works, but if you’re going to whip out “the black guy did it” card you better hope the cops don’t ask any follow up questions. Follow up questions really unraveled this farcical story of a John McCain volunteer who claimed she was assaulted physically and sexually by the “big scary black buck” stereotype because of her support for John McCain.

Never mind the guy who allegedly attacked Texas A&M student Ashley Todd sounds like a composite character out of a Donald Goines novel with a hard-on for some “hope” with a side of “change.” (Whoreson? Is that you?) She said he carved a “B” onto her face … backwards, oddly enough. To think, it was malarkey like this that got thousands of people killed and their homes burnt to the ground in places like Rosewood, Fla. almost 75 years ago.

From MSNBC:

PITTSBURGH – A John McCain volunteer in Pittsburgh who said she was robbed and sexually assaulted because of her political views has admitted to fabricating the story, police sources told a TV station.

KDKA TV added that one source said Ashley Todd would face charges.

Police have not formally announced the fabrication, acknowledging only that detectives in the case were meeting with the force’s public information officers.

Todd, of College Station, Texas, earlier agreed to take a polygraph test due to inconsistencies.

Among other things, police said photos and bank card information from an automated teller machine where the college student claimed she was robbed do not show her using the machine at the time, police said.

Police said the Todd, who is white, told them she was attacked by a 6-foot-4 black man Wednesday night.

Other differences in her accounts are whether she lost consciousness, whether she remembers handing over money and how the man assaulted her, police said.

In her initial account, Richard said, Todd attempted to use the ATM when the man approached her from behind, put a knife with a 4- to 5-inch blade to her throat and demanded money. She told police she handed the assailant $60 and walked away.

Todd told investigators that she suspected the man then noticed a John McCain sticker on her car, became angry and punched her in the back of the head, knocking her to the ground and telling her “you are going to be a Barack supporter,” police said in a statement.

She said he continued to punch and kick her while threatening “to teach her a lesson for being a McCain supporter,” police said. She said he then sat on her chest, pinned her hands down with his knees and scratched a backward letter “B” into her face using what she believed to be a dull knife.

The woman told police she didn’t seek medical attention, but instead went to a friend’s apartment nearby and called police about 45 minutes later.

Gawker, which has also been keeping up with the story has dubbed Todd the “Poor dumb idiot racist kid.”

  1. Geez…this seriously pisses me off because as someone who works with survivors of sexual assault, I know the difficulties that survivors face when telling their stories. Women like Ashley Todd perpetuate the myth that women lie about getting raped. It just makes it harder for women who really are raped to come forth and tell her story. And to think about all the time and resources spent on her “case” that could have been spent on following up with real victims of crime.Fucking sick.

This is why, as a Black woman, I worry for my two brothers and even my 70 y.o. Dad when stories like this, real or fake, appear in my area. Four years ago in the predominantly white town where my brother lives, Black men were asked to “voluntarily” give their DNA samples to police so they could be ruled out as suspects in a serial rapist case. ??!?!?! My FAMILY MEMBERS are not SUSPECTS!!

  3. They say she’s sick and we should feel sorry for her, and hope she gets some help. Well, I say, “STONE HER!” Seriously, I’m sure a demon got the best of her. I wish her well. Peace always

  4. Classic borderline personality disorder. Recognize it. The girl needs help. That scar is forever. My sympathy might be misplaced. The McCain campaign should probably denounce it quick.

  5. As soon as I heard word of the story this morning, I said, “Lemme guess…she’s gonna say the guy was black.” Lo and be-freaking-hold, that’s where she goes. C’mon what a waste of police time. Yeah, ’cause there’s apparently a lot of robbers out there who also are political activists willing to stop mid-robbery to carve a perfectly-shaped backwards B into someone’s face. Please. I agree with Marilynjean that stupid fools like this not only hurt black men, but hurt women who have really been attacked. Yeah, she’s probably crazy, but I want to see some jail time and a public apology. We don’t need any more “Susan Smiths” getting inspired.

See its the stuff like this that really gets under my skin because its like you knew a story like this was coming…for some reason you knew some white woman was gonna come up with some cockamamie story that’ll enrage white men. She is such a loser.

  7. I can hardly say how RELIEVED I am that the truth came out so quickly. I knew! she was lying, (and so did every single one of the rightwing nutjobs who claimed to believe her), but I was terrified that some Black boy or man would be beaten, maimed and/or killed before she was found out. I can’t even be angry, I so relieved! My respect to the police officers who did not fall for the foul bullsh!t.

I dont feel sorry for her one bit. I would have felt sorry for any man that would have been arrested and forever labeled a thug, thief and woman beater if that heathen’s story had been seen as the truth. She’s not sick. She’s stupid and crazy. She got what she wanted. She had Obama, Palin and McCain calling her and offering her kind words and support. She needs to spend a couple of days in jail and not have this issue tossed aside because she’s just a “young, poor, little white girl”.Im sick of women like her, black or white, getting away with things of this nature..First the Duke accuser write a book about her lying. Now this trick. I bet she’ll be on Larry King in a week, talking about some lifelong abuse she suffered that made her do what she did..

My biggest aggravation about this is that, once again, the “black man” gets demonized. How many times has this happened and so many black men get harrassed by the police and given the evil eye by so many people because they become suspect of such behavior. We need to pray for our men, that they are not unfairly harmed by this kind of attack.I am just so glad to she was found to be the fraud she is quickly before bunches of brothers were rounded up and arrested.

just because she doesn’t take her meds doesn’t mean is should feel sorry for her…and the mccain camp should be ashamed for helping to spread the lies…
