Sarah Palin Gets The New Yorker Treatment

Couldn’t happen to a nicer person. (Courtesy of The Huffington Post)

GIBSON: What insight into Russian actions, particularly in the last couple of weeks, does the proximity of the state give you?

PALIN: They’re our next door neighbors and you can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska, from an island in Alaska.

  1. i know some conservatives will cry foul on this. But this political satire piece is based on things she actually said, not shiz that people assume about her. This picture clearly shows how stupid she is. And just how in over her head she really is.

  2. hmmm.this kind of angers me because it is not close to the racial “satire” used on the obamas. i was split as to how i felt about the obama cover but now i see it should not have been done. this palin cover does not come close to the damage done to the obamas.

  3. This New Yorker cover didn’t savagely lampoon Palin as the one for Barak and Michelle, which came off like a wild imitation of Mad magazine. The latter cover was a guilty pleasure for me because while it was funny, I feared its negative effects on voters. This cartoon’s got no schtick and, in the retro words of Madame Snob, is very lame.

  4. draven7….The New York is basically calling her a “Moron”. If that is not savagely lampooning then I don’t know what else to call this dumb ass cover. The thing with Michelle and Obama even though the cover was in poor taste it was based “UNTRUTHS”. This cover with Palin is just sadly to true for comfort for me. Because this woman could be our next VP.

  5. Anonymous, while the Obama cover was supposed to exaggerate the public’s misconceptions of them, it came across as false propaganda to a lot of people. Anyone with an ounce of discernment knew it was a blatantly inaccurate, however. It’s unfortunate that some probably fell for it hook, line and sinker. The Palin cover is mediocre at best to me. Certainly not funny in the twisted way the New Yorker treated the Obamas.

  6. The worst(or best, depending on how you look at it) thing is how everyone was taking the mick out of the whole ‘Russia are our next door neighbours etc’ but then she continues to use and see it as a valid arguement…

  7. I will be down on Obama and the Democratic 527’s – the Alaska/Russia thing SHOULD have been an ad.1.Opening- her comments on Alaska and Russia2. Voiceover – ‘We wish she was joking’.3. Voiceover – ‘Sarah Palin – John McCain’s Judgment At Work’.

  8. I think im one of the few Obama supporters who “got” the cover of the New Yorker. I don’t think they were calling them a militant misfit and a terrorist, but rather mocking how others viewed them. Thus, it was a satire. I think this cover with Palin is funny, as to show how utterly stupid she id, but it isnt quite mean enough.

  9. Sarah Palin channeling Gladys Kravitts. Can’t you just hear her screaming – “Todd! Todd! There’s something strange going on at the Putin mansion again!”.BourgietopiaBecause “elitist” is the new “uppity”.
