Is it still not June? Is this still going on? I know, I know. A lot of people want it to keep going. This is a historic election, these are historic candidates, blah, blah, blah, bullshit.
I know it’s historic. But, I don’t really feel like writing about that today. CNN is talking about Ted Kennedy like he’s dead. John McCain is pandering to the anti-Castro lobby in Florida. The San Antonio Spurs beat New Orleans in seven. Every black teenage boy I see in St. Louis has dreadlocks. And they’re long and healthy and well-maintained. There are no good music radio stations here, I have insomnia and I can’t find good Chinese food.
If this were Wednesday, I’d have an excuse to go on and on about the attractiveness of some celebrity. But it’s not.
So …. Here’s a random art gallery from my photo/graphic archives.
I found this on some joke “fundamentalist” Christian site and long and crusty time ago. Stay clean, Whitney!=
This is a cleaned up doodle from a break dancing show I went to in Bakersfield that happened in an old warehouse. I heart B-Boys. Seriously. They’re on my top ten list of favorite things including strawberry shortcake and “Prison Break.” These were scribblings of folks I saw at the show.
This is another piece of pop are by Brandon Bird as part of his Law & Order: Artistic Intent series. This is Lenny Briscoe eating a hotdog, looming as a haloed saint of New York crime and pithy one-liners.
This is from a New Yorker Cartoon by Matthew Diffee. I love this thing. It’s Che Guevara in a Bart Simpson T-shirt. Someday I’m going to order the actual shirt. It’s much cooler that the “Nick LeChe” shirts that were big three years ago.
This last humorous doodle I found last year on an art blog only I’m not sure who did it. I think it was Canadian artist Joy Ang (she does some beautiful illustrations), but this doesn’t quite look like her work. Either way, it’s pretty funny in an old school Warner Bros./Tex Avery sort of way.
