The Snob Is Moving to NYC to Work on TJ Holmes' New Show for BET
Well, it's official! I was hired to do some writing n' such for T.J. Holmes' new show for BET, better known as "Don't Sleep!"
For those of you playing at home, I worked on the pilot last winter and many, many moons ago used to pretend to stalk T.J. for poops n' grins on the Internet. Life is incredibly funny in how a guy I started writing about during this blog's beginnings in 2008 is the same guy I wound up working for in my first scripted TV writing gig. Be sure to check out the show, premiering in October on BET! Along with script writing and blogger duties you just might catch me on as the occasional panelist. I'm already (silently) featured in the show's promos, but I hate those promos because I'm wearing the sweater of doom and I'm about 25 lbs heavier than I am now.
Along with getting to work with The Prince of West Memphis in real life, other perks include continuing to work with the wonderfully exuberant and always exciting Madeleine Smithberg (who created The Daily Show with Jon Stewart among other things) and her awesome co-pilot Sarah North. Together they run Mad Cow Productions and are producing the show for BET. I'll also get to work again with Boondocks executive producer Rodney Barnes, who was lead writer on the pilot and is also going to be part of the show as a consultant. Needless to say, things are about to get pretty interesting around here for Fall 2012.
As always, thanks to everyone who has supported this blog (that's not going anywhere, I'll still try to update in New York). But I wanted to point out that because of folks who read this blog -- including various casting agents, producers, vice presidents and executives at BET -- I have this opportunity today. People who read The Snob and liked it are the most responsible for my post-print journalism success and I'm forever grateful to you for it!
Pat yourselves on the back. You deserve it!
