The Snob Talks Todd Akin's "Legitimate Rape," Paul Ryan's Black Woman of Ex-Girlfriends Past on NPR

Click to enlarge. This Wednesday The Snob made a return to NPR's Tell Me More with Michel Martin for the Beauty Shop segment. Michel was out, leaving it up to the Wise Latinas Club's Viviana Hurtado to do the heavy host lifting. Topics du jour included Missouri's Todd "Legitimate Rape" Akin channelling Effie White from "Dreamgirls," telling the GOP he's not going from the Senate race and YOU'RE GOING TO LOVE ME in the face of overwhelming pressure to drop out; Romney veep pick Paul Ryan's black ex-girlfriend and whether or not she matters (Short version: She doesn't.); and Augusta National allowing female members to their golf club the same year Saudi Arabia finally sent female athletes to the Olympics. Joining me for the chat are Beauty Shop regulars Mary Kate Cary and Bridget Johnson.

Check out the audio after the jump.

"Legitimate" rape??
Hey- It’s the same thing that Ryan has proposed, time and time again,
with his “forcible” rape legislation. And now... he’s trying to run from it.
If the Republicans win, the rich will rape this COUNTRY...."legitimately".
If the Republicans win, the rich will abort Medicare .
If the Republicans win, the rich will abort Social Security,
If the Republicans win, the rich will lower their own taxes, and screw he rest of us.
Cause Lyin' Ryan and More-mon-ey Romney are the Conservative Caviar Candidates.
They're the DREAM team for the super-rich.
And apparently they don’t have enuf in this great country - they want it ALL!
But they're the NIGHTMARE team.... for seniors, the the middle-class , for women’s rights,
for students receiving Pell grants, and for all the rest of us who are struggling
.....while the big corporations send jobs and profits overseas,
and the super-rich like Romney avoid paying their fair share.
Romney-Ryan have billions from their buddies for non-stop ads.
They can fool some of the people some of the time.
But no more. Cause we’re ON to you guys! And we vote.

Snob, I loved the way you answered the question regarding Augusta. I can only imagine what you might have said if you were not on NPR. Personally, I could not care less about the Man allowing us into his club. It looks like we have more important battles as women to fight - namely for the integrity of and sovereignty over our own bodies.

I can't help but wonder if these guys like Akin have committed the offense of rape and just weren't arrested. Why else would you try to change the definition of something as horrific as rape?

forget the idiot. Who cares a bout him. But for Ryan, who cares if he dated a Black woman, so did the slave masters, in a way. He's still stupid and out of touch. I know the Black woman is glad his blond wife got him. What shelf respecting woman wants to live with an knuckledragger like either of them. But beter they than I.
