In a new partnership between the blogger and the popular black women’s interest site, Belton and CLUTCH will be working together to bring fun, informative and innovative content to both sites.
Starting this July, Belton is the new Editor-At-Large for CLUTCH, acting as the site’s public face and taking on a more expanded role as a columnist, content editor and contributor. Belton will consult on editorial content, expand her role as a weekly contributor, and assist in recruiting and mentoring new writers for the site. The partnership was several months in the making as Belton began freelancing for CLUTCH fall of 2011.
“I’ve always been a fan of CLUTCH and the site’s incredible potential. It’s exciting to be part of CLUTCH’s continued growth and development and I’m honored that editorial director Deanna Sutton invited me to be part of the team. It’s already been wonderful working with her as a contributor. I can’t wait to dig into my expanded role in helping promote CLUTCH and developing content.”
Belton was brought on board by CLUTCH Editorial Director Deanna Sutton. After going online in 2007, CLUTCH quickly became a popular destination for African American women lifestyle news, opinion and thought. The site currently gets more than 1.5 million page views a month and is rapidly growing. Belton’s addition to the team is a continuation of CLUTCH’s mission to better serve its audience.
“We are so excited to have Danielle join CLUTCH as the Editor At Large,” said CLUTCH Editorial Director Deanna Sutton. “I have been a big fan of The Black Snob for years and have always loved the commentary and opinion Danielle offers. We are honored to have one of the most well-respected literary voices of our time partnering with us.”
BLACKSNOB.COM was founded in 2007 by Belton who previously was a California-based entertainment reporter. The award-winning site grew to prominence in 2008 due to Belton’s coverage of the historic election of President Barack Obama. Since then Belton has contributed to ESSENCE Magazine, ESSENCE Online, The American Prospect, CNN, Mediaite, Jezebel.com, theGrio, The Root, and many, many others. Belton is also a contributor on NPR’s “Tell Me More” with Michel Martin and PBS’ “To the Contrary” with Bonnie Erbe.
Belton also works as a social networking consultant and has written about mental health issues for BP Magazine and their Bipolar Blog.
