T. J. Holmes to Host BET Show Advising You Not to Sleep With Him

T. J. Holmes, of guy I used to hilariously fake Google stalk fame, left CNN last year only to re-emerge with BET Networks, signing a multi-platform deal. Part of that deal was a shiny new show. And now, BET and Holmes have announced what that show will be -- a comedy news half-hour, a la The Daily Show or Real Time with Bill Maher. Only this time it's, Don't Sleep with T. J. Holmes.
The responses have ranged from excitement and praise to puzzlement. But I think it's a good thing. But then, I'm also terribly, terribly biased. But for more reasons than you expect!
Full disclosure: I was a part of the development process for this show, recruited by BET as a writer on the pilot. Which is how that photo of the Teege and I -- together at last -- came into being. If you want to know what's going on with the show now, I don't know because I was one of the writers on the pilot -- not a producer or development person at BET. I'm pretty low on the process totem pole. Higher than "key grip" but lower than "lead writer."
Also, the title was not my idea. But I did find it hilarious.
The folks who worked on the pilot, T. J. included, are great people. Which means if the stars align just right, the show could do really well. Hence why I'm excited for it. It's good to see people take on challenges and try something different. Go bold or go home.
But them I'm a natural-born risk taker, believing that where there is high-risk you can also find high-reward.
So cheers to the Prince of West Memphis! I'll be watching!

Call me crazy, but I like the title, but then I'm a sucker for the double entendre. It's funny, edgy and totally un-BET, which is, of course, a good thing. I don't have cable, but if I did I woukd watch it because they had enough sense to hire you. Alas, their lack of brilliance is demonstrated by the fact that you weren't the producer.
What you mean, you'll 'be watching?" Girl please.
If BET doesn't have you over there WRITING the thing -- if not RUNNING it -- why on earth would we watch? (No offense to The Teege but a handsome face nightly spouting Non-Funny just won't cut it. At least not for me.)
So, we shall see, BET.
We shall see.
Congratulations on this opportunity !

You didn't give a premier date for the show.
Awwww.... look at y'all all cozy and cute. Let the stalking re-commence, lol.
I'm glad that BET is branching out and throwing something different in the mix. I for one will be supporting the show because if we don't continue to support the black programming on BET, It'll only be a matter of time before MTV turns into in VH2 or something. Plus, I think TJ has a lot of talent. Not to mention, he's super cute.
That is a very cute picture of you both! Love it!
I might watch....
