Beyonce Drowns Internet In New Videos
Holder of The Greatest Fetus of All Time, Beyonce Knowles is busy putting out videos (obviously) filmed before The Greatest Fetus of All Time became evident. The latest is this video for "Love On Top," a song which sounds like half-90s throwback, half-after thought, and features her doing a little bit of New Edition's "If It Isn't Love" (one of my favorite music videos of all time) and your standard Motown dude group homage.
It's catchy. She looks cute. My favorite parts were the parts where she had on pants. Not that there's anything wrong with her legs (they're awesome), but ever since she started the great pop music War of the Thighs, I've long tired of women singing sans pants. Ciara doesn't wear pants. Keri Hilson doesn't wear pants. Gaga doesn't wear pants. Katy Perry doesn't wear pants (or much else at times). Rihanna doesn't wear pants. Kelly Rowland doesn't wear pants. Britney Spears doesn't wear pants. Christina Aguleria just started back wearing pants again after a brief, pantsless period. The Brazilian wax lady is never going to run out of business.
Put on some damn pants, ladies!
I wanted to see lady poplets to put on pants more than I wanted to see Essence Magazine put Janelle Monae in a (full length) skirt. PANTS! They look great. With everything. Also, for the record, I like the song "Countdown." A lot. (Despite a few of the lyrics that I mostly ignore.) The video was nice too, although I'm still not sure if it's stealing when it's obvious. No one's ever seen a Judy Garland-Rita Moreno-Audry Hepburn-Chita Rivera-Andy Warhol pastish rip off some post-modern choreography before? Madonna better get started on that lawsuit for half of everything Lady Gaga has earned.

Yeah. Watching her dance like that made my chest hurt. How do you even do that without the girls making a run for it? Was she wearing a clear bra that they removed in post? Boob tape?
Yes and Madonna could stand to pay the black music community for everything her non talented self stole. Vogue for starters.
I know that people in beauty pageants use tennis racket spray to keep their bodies stuck to their bathing suits, so maybe she used something like that to hold those bad boys in for the most part. I guess it's an industry secret and we'll never know. *shrug*
She looks amazing....cute as button! But honestly I'm tired of Beyonce....her songs are meh and all she seems to do is copy....never anything original. And I agree PUT ON SOME PANTS....please!!!!
I know it's an homage, but it's only an homage to us New Editions fans and old heads who are aware that it was done before. Newbies look at "Love On Top" and think that "Bey has done it again". Bullshit.
My first thought, especially since like you Snob, this is my FAVORITE New Edition video, hell, I still know the whole dance routine, and even when I'm not watching the video and just playing the song on my computer or Iphone, I actually just can't resist getting up and doing the whole damn dance.
Anyway, my first thought was "does this woman have an original thought left in her head"? I know videos are not what they were when MJ ruled the world as a "video vanguard", but damn since when did it become ok to not even try to have original video concepts anymore? I think Bey's tallented enough to come up with some better ideas that just he lazy step of just doing what someone else did.
Her 4 album is actually really good. I can listen to it all the way through without skipping (except maybe that Run the World song, lol). The bonus songs are great too, my favorite being the Schooling Life song. I think the reason it hasn't done as well as previous albums is because it IS good. The top 10 is full of shit. Fans want sex and coonery 24/7.
I'm just hear for the New Edition stanning. Anyway, enough gossip blogs have mentioned the "If it isn't love" inspiration so maybe these young kids will learn where Bey got her moves from.
