Black Snob Wins Black Weblog Award for Third Year In A Row!

I won the judges' choice for Best Political Blog for the 2010 Black Weblog Awards! It's a three-peat! In previous years I won judges' choice for best new blog, best political blog and best writing in a blog. I'm special! YESSSSS!

If I knew how (or what) the "dougie" is I would do it. I think ... nah. I'm from the 90s. I'm doing the Roger Rabbit.

See a list of all the winners after the jump.

Ah ... the Roger Rabbit. Great story behind that.

It only took me two months to teach myself how to do it when I was 12. (I can dance, but I have to work at it.) I was learning it in preparation for Keeven Elementary's Sixth Grade Banquet to show off all my sweet dance moves no one knew I had.

You see? I was a tormented dork for almost all of my seven years (kindergarten through sixth) at Keeven, but in the sixth grade? Man, in the sixth grade I came into my own. For some reason, everyone stopped trying to change me and just accepted me as the classy nerd I was. And it was beautiful. It all culminated that night at the banquet, which was held at Hazelwood East High School ... the school my eldest sister went to and the one I longed to attend as well. (I wound up at Central.)

God, I killed that night. I had on an awesome black and white striped dress that made me look like a super hero and my mom FOR ONCE let me wear my extremely long hair down in these great feathered curls with a banana clip. And the night before I accidentally sat on my "cool" glasses, the black wire frames. So my mom was all, "Wear your old ones," but they were these HORRID pink n' purple plastic cheapo dork glasses so I was all "Heck no! I'll go there blind!" But me, without my glasses, worked like how it did in the movies that night! I went from Clark Kent to Superman!

Suddenly, I was the cutest girl at the party! So even though everything was blurry everyone was SUPER nice to me and told me how great I looked and my peers, for once, seemed shocked and amazed by my high level of awesome. Plus I got to give a great graduation speech I wrote all by myself. (Both myself and my rival/friend Allen Thompson were chosen to give speeches ... quite possibly because we were the two biggest overachieving nerds in the history of Keeven). My speech was inspired by Janet Jackson's Rhythm Nation album (the song "The Knowledge" in particular ... OMG, this story is soooo 1990) and everyone who made fun of me suddenly thought I was the coolest girl in the world. And then ... and then the dance started and I BUSTED OUT THAT ROGER RABBIT AND IT WAS THE HOTTEST THING EVER! Everyone was all "oh shit!" I did the Running Man! I did the Wop! I RoboCopped! And everyone who was a jerk to me was all "Danielle! I didn't know you could dance!" And there was an ice sculpture shaped like a lion! And my parents were all like THAT'S OUR DAUGHTER! And I got to take a picture with both my parents for once instead of just my mom, but in the picture with my dad my classmate Anthony Hall photo bombed us and he did this back before photo bombing was a thing! But who cares because I looked AWESOME, right?

Greatest. Night. Ever!

But I digress!
