Shots Fired! Sherrod Calls FOX News Racist
Shirley SherrodWell. All they did was smear a good woman's name in the pursuit of ratings and "Reverse Racist" shame the NAACP and the White House into piling on. But, bump that! Former USDA employee Shirley Sherrod isn't going away without a fight!
From Media Matters via Plum Line:
She said Fox showed no professionalism in continuing to bother her for an interview, but failing to correct their coverage.
"I think they should but they won't. They intended exactly what they did. "They were looking for the result they got yesterday," she said of Fox. "I am just a pawn. I was just here. They are after a bigger thing, they would love to take us back to where we were many years ago. Back to where black people were looking down, not looking white folks in the face, not being able to compete for a job out there and not be a whole person."

Same as the day before.........
Now that we see the influence the "Jersey Shore" has over the NAACP for being "Snookered"...can we begin a dialog about what the hell they are doing when they should know better! They know that FOX News is OUT to get them in every way they can. Not to mention the Tea Party leadership has been pushing a narrative that outlines the need to cut out programs and reduce taxes (highlight "cut welfare and inner-city programs to give me my money back"). Anyone with half a brain knows that before you act, you investigate! The fact that they rushed to put a nail in the coffin lets you know that the NAACP is running scared. They are not ready to fight for the cause. They want to stave off the potential "Gotcha" moment and keep their "reputation" in tact.
What they should do is take out an ad in all major newspapers and online editions stating that they will no longer respond to any allegations from FOX News since the media outlet has continued to slice and dice videos that portray African Americans in a way that questions the validity of their news organization. That is a way to fire back and take some viewers with them. The way to attack FOX is on the credibility of the storyline. They are not challenged because the Obama Administration is afraid to flat out say, "FOX continues to Outfox the viewers, and we will no longer regard them as a serious News organization. If people want to be led astray, then continue to watch. However, be advised that they are not telling the truth and stories continue to surface that provide evidence of misrepresentation."
As for the NAACP.....What is we gone' do? Heavy sigh.......
To be honest, this shouldn't even be a story. We went through this with ACORN and even Justice Sotomayor with her taken-out-of-context comments. I suppose after weeks of oil spill coverage, hot weather, and so on, folks are on edge for petty things and make snap judgments without fully thinking things out. Sherrod shouldn't have went through this mess, but she'll be fine. As for the so-called MSM and whatever factions at war, SMDH!!!
@ CDF-with all due respect, this is a major story and it's not petty at all. We have a president who was heaping praise on an ex Klan member, and here a survivor of racial terrorism was automatically sent packing by someone on Obama's staff without being given benefit of the doubt. It all begs the question, who exactly is this administration trying to please? On another site, someone mentioned if this administration is so easily led astray by Fox News , what about foreign adversaries? Also, are there people on Fox's payroll who are being paid to go through archives of every Black person in his administration? Why would Sherrod even be a target otherwise-for Obama & co. to state these people are not racists is the worst kind of bending over, esp. in light of this Sherrod situation.
Sherrod said that Fox News' mission is to bring back the day in which Black people can't look Whites straight in the eye or be allowed to compete for a job.
Sadly in the state of Georgia that both of us live in today - 2010 not 1910 - the largest amount of acts of intimidation of Black people via terroristic threat is done by other Blacks.
I was on record rejecting the firing of Ms Sherrod before any of this went down with the NAACP. The use of gotcha politics is destructive to the country.
Sadly for the NAACP - their guise of representing the interests of the Black community is shattered by a quick peek at the most pressing issues that our communities face yet they are guilty of abandonment and benign neglect.
I am well past the assumption that the NAACP speaks for the Black community and that they are anything more than the ground forces for the Democratic Party and Progressives into the Black community.
Instead I have focused my eyes on the Black rank & file - wondering how much more we are going to allow the grand diversion attempts to keep us distracted from the grand problems within that are not being managed DESPITE the growth in power of the favorable external entities that we have contracted with.
Its not as much about race as it is about partisan politics. Blacks vote demorcratically overwhelmingly and they seek to disinfranchise us and make us non trusting of each other. The NAACP is key in getting out the vote in elections. They fell into the trap, they need to be careful. Don't fall for it.

thank you CF,
Fox news is not racist, stop calling the race card on everything, Sherrod is still on the plantation, is she contradicting herself? Or is she the racist? I would like to know who leak the you tube video or should I say brought it to the attention of those who would give it to the media.
@BluTopaz
I'm not saying this story is petty.
To Bluetopaz
Black people also heap praise on Robert Kennedy and he was responsible for wiretapping Dr. King and he and his brothers created special cul-de-sac properties to keep 'undesirables'[aka minorities] out.
