President Got All Sweary Word on Oil Spill

Did it work? Can he go back to working on actually fixing things again instead of just talking about them now?
EVERYONE knows (and by everyone, I mean "political pundits") that when President Obama gets mad and swears "magical" things happen. Like I suddenly know he cares because I don't understand things like nuance or how fixing a leaking oil rig in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico is not something the government knows how to fix. Why won't Obama make it more obvious for me to read him? Sure. He says he's upset and he keeps working with folks to fix the oil leak, but I just can't tell he cares unless he connects a string of swears and gets all Charles Barkley on some folks asses. You know? Kind of like how some folks don't know if their significant other really loves them until they smack them in the face or call them out of their name. IF YOU DON'T DISRESPECT ME HOW WILL I KNOW THAT YOU CARE!!!!?!?!?!!
From The Washington Post:
And when Lauer wondered whether it was time to stop acting "cool, calm and collected" and offered the language about butt-kicking, Obama took that verbiage and ran with it: "I don't sit around just talking to experts because this is a college seminar. We talk to these folks because they potentially have the best answers, so I know whose ass to kick."
Ooo! OOOOOO! The President said "ass!" To NBC's Matt Lauer! (He's going to need therapy after that.) So oil leak fixed, right? Environment saved! Wait? What? You say it didn't? And now you say some folks, in some cases the same ones who complained that he wasn't getting "mad" enough thought the swear was unprofessional and forced? Oh well, back to just talking to BP and a bunch of engineers everyday, discussing possible ways to stop the thing. Have they tried jiggling the handle? Have they considered a plunger? Are we sure we don't just want to try that nuclear warhead thingy? Worst case scenario we end up killing ourselves!
Anyway, in other news. No one is happy. The Gulf is still a mess and ... um ... no one knows what to do!
From CBS.com:
Forty-four percent of respondents disapprove of the White House's handling of the spill, with 38 percent satisfied with the government's response. Those figures were 45 percent and 35 percent, respectively, a week ago.
For BP, 68 percent disapprove of the company's handling of the disaster, with just 21 percent approving. Last week, those numbers were 70 percent and 18 percent, respectively.
Meanwhile, BP's latest efforts to cap are going according to plan, despite the fact that oil could still be seen leaking from the containment device, a company executive said.
"We do have the cap successfully in place. ... And the oil you see escaping right now is actually part of the design," BP's chief operating officer Doug Suttles told CBS "The Early Show" Friday. "What we have is four vent valves on the top of this cap. We'll be successfully closing those vent valves through the course of the day."

Give it a few days (or weeks) and you'll see this story getting buried deeper into the archives...
I am not surprised about him saying azz because I am sure that he drops the F bomb more often than not.

Obama has Joe Biden right there as his VP!!
There is no better time or place in the universe for VP Joe Biden to speak to the press. He can't make the oil spill situation worse and he comes out the corner swinging like windmill in a storm.
Barack, release the Craken!
I agree with Wenzel, release the Craken!
I agree with Boehner.
"House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) said Wednesday that President Barack Obama should find someone's "ass to kick" regarding the budget deficit."

He should start by kicking John Boehner's ass
Wenzel:
I love the reference but is spelled Kraken.
Dewfish:
Apparently 0 hasn't even spoken directly to the BP CEO, Tony Hayword. That's what you would do if you really want to send a message but 0 just wants to do beach photo ops, invoke his daughter for political points and blame Bush.
I think the president responded appropriately. Of course everyone--not privvy to all the facts--want to add their 2 cents. I honestly would not expect more than dialoguing with folks etc..which is what he's doing. This is NOT the ONLY issue the nation has on its plate. I think it's being handled appropriately by both Jingle (the governor) and Obama. BP dude however...needs to be camped out in a tent (by the shoreline in view of the oil rig thinggy), eating bread and water and biting his fingernails until the whole thing is fixed.
@Scott:
Actually if he wants to "send a message", it will likely involve tougher regulations for oil companies and drilling procedures that are safer for the ocean. All of which the republicans and the teabaggers will vote against even though they are complaining that he is not doing enough.
@Scott
I hate to do it to you, but double word score! German dictionary has it as craken. Both versions can work.

Wenzel:
Given that the word isn't German and neither of us are, I assume, it is spelled Kraken in English. As a side note, there was a US submarines named the USS Kraken. See also:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kraken
On another note, 0 will finally meet with BP's chairman Carl-Henric Svanberg to discuss the spill. Maybe while they are meeting 0 can finally get some answers for his daughter.
I guess it's the proverbial Catch-22: Damned if you do, damned if you don't. That said, I don't know that I want my president cursing on the record to make a point.
@Scott Considering that this may be a volcano that was drilled into and there is nothing that Obama can do about that I think he is handling this as best as anyone can.
Mary:
A volcano? What are you talking about? I hear o is going back down to the gulf. I wonder if he will bring the girls down with him for a photo op?
@Scott
The water in the Gulf is on top of a super volcano 100X larger than the one in Yellow Stone that is why it was not advisable for them to deep water drill in that area, especially without proper regulation. They may have drilled into the volcano and now there is probably no way of stopping it accept for a nuclear explosion, however that may allow the methane to blow out into the atmosphere or crack the strata further so there is a good chance nuking would be worse. Either way we are probably toast. If it is so easy to run in SC I am going to move down there to see if I can win and make it into one of the VIP DUMB shelters. LOL

I rarely quote the Bible in a politcal discussion and I'm sure someone will accuse me of being inappropriate. Before someone says it, NO, I don't think President Obama is any kind of Messianic figure. However, Christian or not, the following passage strikes me as a fitting literary example of the situation President Obama finds himself in. Whether you see it as Gospel, allegory, or mythology, the parallel shouldn't be that hard to follow:
"To what can I compare this generation? They are like children sitting in the marketplaces and calling out to others: " 'We played the flute for you, and you did not dance; we sang a dirge and you did not mourn.' For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, 'He has a demon.' The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, 'Here is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and "sinners." ' But wisdom is proved right by her actions." Matthew 11:16-19 (NIV)
President Obama needs to do what he thinks is best, and what he can. The mature among us realize that even for the most powerful man in the world, he is still just a man, and in some situations what he can do may be very little. Too many people are like sulky children. Happiest when they are unhappy and never pleased with anything. Trying to pacify them is a waste of time and will lead you in circles and waste your energy. Best to put them and their opinions in the recycling bim with all the other things that clutter your life, but are ultimately of no use.

One person can still make a difference in this world, is that simple interactions have a rippling effect. Each time this gets pass along, the hope in cleaning our planet is passed on.
@Stevon
I agree that other companies need to be consulted. Allowing BP to continue to fail without getting serious aid from other countries and companies does not make allot of sense. At least ½ the tankers in the entire world should be in the Gulf right NOW encircling the spill and removing all the oil they can. This could be the end of us. I am really considering moving out of the country if they cannot resolve this by summer’s end. See the article below:

Once there is a big hurricane or strong rain I am not going to trust the drinking water, so I will be going to the store today to stock up on bottled.
