Gone to Arkansas!

The Snob will not be updating this or The Black Snob blog over the next three days. I gotta go to Arkansas to wish Granny Snob a happy birthday. Regularly scheduled blogging should resume late Monday. I'd blog from Arkansas, but I don't think they have Wi-fi in big ol' City of Newport. Until then, everyone have a Happy Easter, happy weekend, happy whatever. Just be happy!

That is a very handsome picture. But, why is it that people never seem to smile in old pictures? It's kind of weird.

Originally, people didn't smile because of bad teeth. Then, whenever folk looked at pictures, they never saw any smiles so they figured that was the proper way to pose. And the circle was unbroken.

Of course, I just made all that up. ;-)

People don't smile in these pics because early cameras involved keeping the eye exposed for a longer period of time. People had to remain still longer, thus the expressionless faces.
