Don't surprise me none either. I remember spending the whole summer in Texas in 1976, with my brother who was stationed at Fort Hood. My sister and I were playing with firecrackers on the Bicentennial Fourth, and this hick police officer came over and made us stop. I also remember flying over the New York harbor that day and seeing the tall ships under Operation Sail.

This story as reported and has been discussed left out some facts. So let me explain. The story fails to mention one thing to inflame. The only two officers in this town are black! Fact, Call City of Tenaha and there or two. Both officers married, family men! WTF, notice never mentioned. 2nd these cases were solicited due to one of the officers slept with a white femaile (known in Shelby County - Tenaha, Texas is in Shelby County) as a tramp. When he dumped her, she complained to her mother, a city council person, who has been trying every since to get this one officer fried. The city judge is under investigation for giving out information to this lady to solicit every one (black, arrested for or stopped for drugs) to file a complaint against this officer. Fact this is been covered in the local Tenaha news papers for some two years. The details of there sex life, text messaging and his prior divorce. All because a brother dumped a white girl. All can be verified by the City Secretary of Tenaha, Texas. Mayor Bowers and the Light and Champion newspaper.
Sad that it made national news and never once was the race of the officers included in any article. Same here, not any mention, all comments are based on prior history that this has been done by white officers. The assumnption is that people in small towns are backward! Wrong! You will find a lot of educated, wealthy individuals who wanted a different type of life. Decided I could get a $500,000.00 home for $250,000.00 and 15 acreas of land as oppose to being in a big city and getting a $500,000.00 home and a small backyard!
Does it not make you wonder, why until now you are hearing the race of the officers. By the way in my life time, I have been dumped. My mom who is a black woman, never called him, talked bad to or about him in the surrounding towns and started lies. Also, this white girl has a personal on Yahoo, where she is continuing to look for black men, if you see if RUN!!!!!!

Teneha is about an hour's drive south of me...maybe an hour and a half... This is the first I've heard of this. Wow. All over. Wow. They got their money back; but how embarrassing to have to go through that with your kids in tow witnessing! Interesting the officers are Black...I thought otherwise. I mean, it's Teneha. LOL

Yes its sad, but I frankly fail to see how knowing that the officer was black really changes anything. You imply that the media has left out an important detail in neglecting to inform us that the officers were black; you then add, "All because a brother dumped a white girl.". Is your outrage that due to
1) "the brother" hasn't done right by other black [drivers], & his and black (?) wife, by dating a white girl?
2)Or that disproportionate actions by law enforcement officers on blacks are "OK" if the officers themselves are black?
3)Or that assumptions about the parochialism of small town dwellers may be re-enforced by this story?
Since the back story you provide has such as Palin-esque feel to it, I'm surprised you didn't supply us with any local stories (e.g. I mean links) to the source, to feel in the blanks.

From the Chicago Tribune: a story out of Texas of a small town ripping off folks on their way to Shreveport, La. and Houston, usually black or mixed race couples, to shake down their cash, jewels and cars under threat of trumped up felony charges and other BS.
The town is Tenaha. Population 1,046.
The story is INSANE, yet I'm sure there will some "law enforcement can do no wrong" types who will be able to think of legitimate reasons of why you can illegally search and detain granny, then rob her of her car and casino cash and never charge her with ANYTHING. Yeah. That sounds REAL KOSHER. Very up and up!
I lived in Texas for more than a year and my dad was born and raised in Gainesville, TX so neither of us were surprised by this AT ALL. Nothing like being held up by the people who are supposed to "serve and protect."
