General Snobbery

Hot Topics > Discussion Room Etiquette (Must Read!)

Rule #1: Don't be a douche.

Rule #2: Do not scream at people IN ALL CAPS!

Rule #3: Please be respectful of others' views.

Rule #4: Avoid most "Uncle Tom this" and "Uncle Tom that" talk. It really, really annoys me. The actual Uncle Tom was, ahem, not an "Uncle Tom." Stop insulting both this real life and fictitious character.

Rule #5: Please make an attempt (at least) to be interesting. Like, if you're going to be a troll, aspire to be the world's most entertaining troll. There is nothing worse than a lazy troll who just writes the "N-word" over and over like a 13-year-old who just discovered "Birth of A Nation."

Rule #6: It's fine to name drop your site, but could you attempt to keep it subtle? Obsessive name-dropping can be interpreted as "high douchery."

Rule #7: No dropping mad crazy defamation-style gossip without some evidence (re: a link or news story) to back it up. Example: I hate, hate, HATE STD rumors about celebrities and semi-celebs/public figures. Unless you personally caught the Clap from them, don't post that hot mess on my board. Also, please try not to get lost in the wilderness of "gay speculation." I'm fine with it being discussed, but let's not talk about it like it's a disease. ("Oh dear! He's got THE GAY!")

Rule #8: Seriously. Don't be a douche. I have the power to block your IP address now. This is a safe haven for the thinking person's level of snark. Not your garden variety, anonymous internet hackery, racial epitaph shouting and character assassination. Behave accordingly!
